You can't be too careful anymore

When all that is waiting for you
Arube was already nervous, prior her entrance of the wolf country. She had lurked on the edges for a few weeks, thinking about life in a pack. Her will to survive and instincts finally took over. She knew that if she wanted to live a decent life(and not go hungry), she had to join a pack. Life really was full of compromise. She walked slowly, never disguising her anxiety. She wasn’t the most sociable wolf ever, but she wanted to live. Besides, being in a pack would probably be fun. She knew that she wouldn’t be able to see her sister very often. Unless of course Vedemera joined the same pack as Arube, but Arube knew better. Whenever packs were brought up in a conversation, Vedemera fervently made a point of her unwillingness to join one, and then changed the subject. Arube could never figure out why Vedemera wouldn’t want to be in a pack. Arube, being a massive thinker, deducted that Vedemera did not like the thought of being advised by an alpha, since she thought all alpha wolves were like their father, Kai. Arube had often wondered if all alphas were like him, and if they were, she would bear it.
Arube now entered the center of Dachau’s capital. She was so bewildered she hardly even noticed the wolves bustling past her, their fur brushing against hers. She felt herself shaking, and not just from the cold that nibbled at her veins. Never before had Arube seen something so incredible, but almost scary at the same time. Her heard slammed against her chest like a caged bird just dying to get out. She had no idea what to do, and was too afraid to ask for help. She closed her eyes and counted to five, a technique she often used when she was flustered or stressed. She finally regained her composure(for the most part). Arube looked around, her amber eyes darting here and there. She saw other wolves waiting to be sorted, young ones playing, and big tough-looking wolves with obvious authority ushering smaller wolves around. Arube sighed. She fluffed out her shady black coat against the nipping cold. Her ears twitched. She chose a good time to join a pack, winter was on its way, and that was a hard time for her even when she lived with her family.
