If you want your character to be the alpha male or female of any of the four reigning packs of Dachau, please read through this thread entirely. Then reply with the form at the bottom filled out as completely as possible. Good luck to everyone! Auditions end January 17th, although we may announce our decisions a bit earlier if the staff finds that you truly have an outstanding bio.
In light of previous inactivity with original alpha's, we ask that you read the following regulations carefully before applying for the alpha position.
` Be active. We cannot stress the importance of this rule enough. While you're not expected to be on every day, we do expect a minimum of three posts per week.
`Be aware of site rules and regulations, and familiarize yourself with the plot and guidebook.
` Your character must be accepted before you can audition.
` A current roleplay sample is required. It must be written by you, and it must pertain to the role you are auditioning for in some way. If you're having difficulty coming up with a sample, PM one of the staff and we'll prompt you with a scenario.
`If you're frequently museless or busy, we would prefer that you not audition for a high rank. Alphas will be crucial to the upcoming plot, and once the plot is in development, alpha activity is a must.
`Proofread and spellcheck your application. Proper grammar and spelling is expected.
`If you are re-auditioning for the part of an alpha, please state so somewhere in your application. Please note that if you originally played the alpha of a certain pack, you may not be reassigned that pack again, particularly so if you were not active in the past.
`Please make sure that the character that you are auditioning with fits the pack you're choosing. I.e., a Kalte or Asmeth wolf would not be warm and welcoming, etc.

Character: Sudhir
Gender: Male
Age: 3 years
Pack: Kälte
Reason: Firstly, Sudhir has spent his entire life in the mountains, and thus is intimately knowledgeable of all the difficulties it can present. Such a life has hardened him considerably, but not dampened his will to survive – he can be the sure, confident leader that a pack requires. Tough conditions do not harry him; Sudhir has a great deal of fortitude and a will of iron. Even when under stress, he is willing to adopt the face of complete control even in order to keep his pack’s faith in him. Yet, despite holding the stubbornness of a leader, and the confidence to push his pack forward, he’s intelligent enough to know when to back down as well. He will not lead the pack to ruin.
For example – the pack have been overwhelmed by a blizzard and are trying to reach a nearby, visible outcrop of the mountain that offers considerable shelter. Sudhir would have no problem encouraging and pushing them onwards, despite their fear and exhaustion. However, let’s say they then became lost – at this point, rather than have them wander round in circles, Sudhir would immediately switch tactics and have them dig a snow cave. Less perfect shelter, perhaps, but lives would be saved. Although he dislikes failure, Sudhir would not place his own pride before that of the pack.
As suitable for such a tight-knit pack, Sudhir also places a strong value on community. Concerns will be listened to, and the overall unity of the pack would be constantly monitored by him. Dissent and doubt can be the death of any pack; Sudhir would deal with these problems immediately, ensuring the pack continues to function at its best. In particular, he holds true to any pack traditions that have developed over the years, as these are one of the things that bind the pack together. Not just as a pack, but as a family as well.
To an extent, Sudhir also favours a policy of isolationism. Strangers and trespassers are viewed both as a threat and an annoyance; his response will be civil, but not particularly friendly or generous. He dislikes anything that could throw the pack off-balance. Trouble makers will be dealt with swiftly, to set an example to any others.
Sudhir also follows the idea of the survival of the fittest, supposedly along with many wolves who have had similar upbringings. And, as the wolves of Kälte are some of the hardiest around, this has never posed much of a problem. Sudhir follows the belief that weak links in the pack are integrally dangerous for all the others. Thus, they either need to shape up immediately, or take themselves elsewhere. Or be left behind. Exception, obviously, is given to pregnant females and the much younger pack members, as well as the well-respected elders. Similarly, brave individuals who have been injured through no fault of their own will also be given leeway. An example of this policy in effect is the pack’s policy of getting rid of the ‘runt’ of the litter, ensuring the survival of the healthier pups. This prevents the pack from rearing an individual who would only weaken and slow them down as a team.
[Note: I'm happy to change his policies bit if you don't think they're suitable. (: I assumed that given the history of Dachau, such a Spartan attitude towards pups would work plot-wise... especially for a pack in such an unforgiving climate]
Active?: I’m sure I’ll be able to keep to the minimum three posts a week, at least for the moment due to my exams (which are in three weeks). After that I expect to be more active. The Cbox will be checked daily.
RP Sample: He had been hoping, almost praying, that it wouldn’t come to this. Yet, against all his wishes, one tiny little failure was staring him in the face. Sudhir let out a sharp sigh, his paws clenching unconsciously on the smooth stone floor of the den. The mother just waited for his word, her luminous golden eyes fixed submissively on her own feet. To see it – her trust, her complete acquiescence to his will - made him feel a little better. She too knew it had to be done. And all in all, she should still be proud. Three healthy pups were still left. The fourth was just unfortunate, an understandable victim of the long toil their pack had taken to reach such a sheltered location. It lay curled against its mother’s stomach; a ragged buddle of fluff, smaller than the others almost by half. Such a frail thing had no hope of surviving up in their mountains. Maybe in one of the warmer climates, rich with prey, it would have had a chance. Even then, the pup would still be useless. A leech on their pack; a leech on her healthy siblings.
"It must be done.” He said, quietly. The mother closed her eyes, settling her head on her paws.
“Yes.” was all she said. Her mate shifted restlessly behind her; he was the pack’s Beta, and a good one at that. Sudhir could tell he was more than a little ashamed, but he would deal with pep-talks later. A single, darting look from the Beta told Sudhir all he wanted to know for now. The father would deal with this problem himself.
Sudhir pulled back, heading towards the mouth of the den as though taking a pause for thought; silently giving the couple their space. A moment later, the beta passed him with a single nod, the squirming runt clasped gently between his teeth. When the beta returned, his jaws would be empty. And, for a little while longer, the pack’s future would be secure.
For a moment, Sudhir just stood and watched the endless tumble of falling snow. Then, baring his teeth in a soundless yawn, he turned and ambled back into the warmth. A quick check told him that the mother had moved her young back into the snug little alcove she had found. She lay around them in a protective curl, nuzzling and fussing, the problem pup already forgotten. Sudhir turned and padded away to assess the others, emanating a wave of silent approval. This was the way of things.
[Ehh, not my best RP sample. If you'd like me to expand on it, please say so.]

Fantastic! Thanks a lot! ;D Which reminds me, is there anything specific about Kälte that I should know? Past pack storylines or about the previous leader? Since in Sudhir's history I mentioned it was the pack he joined after leaving home as a young wolf, I should probably check up to make sure I don't make any history-related mistakes. (:
